I am replying a little late in the day, but have only just found out that Bernard's first wife, Mary Elizabeth Broster, is the the eldest daughter of my 3 x great grandfather, Richard Broster. The interesting thing is that Richard Broster, like his son in law Bernard, also worked as a tin plate worker and victualler. For a time Richard was the proprietor of the Jamaica Inn and Coffee House, Bermondsey. Unfortunately, I found this out through a list of bankrupts dated 1839! It is perhaps unlikely they were involved in the same venture, but I think it is definitely food for thought.
