Wilhelm was born at Itingen, Canton Basel-land in January 1820/1822 son of Jacob Meyer & Elizabeth nee Madarsen. Wilhelm (age 33) is believed to have migrated on the ship Ida arriving in Melbourne Australia on 17 Sep 1953. John Jacob Meyer (age 46), his wife Sabine and 9 children from Itingen were also on the Ida. I don't yet know what the relationship is between Wilhelm & John Jacob.
Wilhelm farmed at Harkaway (via Berwick) in 1855 before moving to Emerald to farm. He married Ernestine Beer nee Riemann on 4 July 1855. Wilhelm died at Emerald on 24 May 1901 and was buried at Harkaway. Ernestine died on 30 Sep 1908 and is also buried at Harkaway. Ernestine had 5 children to her first husband Samuel G Beer (migrated from Silesia on the ship Alfred to Adelaide 6 Dec 1848, d. Harkaway 9 May 1854) and 7 to Wilhelm Meyer.
