I am trying to trace the decendants of the above named, George William YOUNG. It is believed that he was born circa 1832 in Hoyingston, Switzerland as a British Subject. This information is from the 1871 Census records of England as at this time he was residing in Attercliffe in Sheffield married to Phylliss Talbot (to make things more complicated she was born at sea). At this time they had several children sopme of which were born spain, Germany and France prior to 1871

George is described through the 1871 cesus records and throughout the following as a coal minor/Hewer

Q. What would he have been doing travelling to all these countries as a minor or could he have been involved in the military and if surely his family would not have travelled with him. Could he have been involved in the convict ships?

His father must also have been a BS in Switzerland at his time of birth what would he have been doing there. Will there be any records of his birth in Switzerland or census records? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
