I have been advised by FamilySearch support that, while the Basel-Stadt images are open to everyone, there is a contractual restriction on the images for the Canton of Bern. Consequently, the security features on FamilySearch.org will only let you view the images from Bern if you are accessing the FamilySearch site through your local LDS Family History Center, or if you can sign on to the site as an LDS Church member.

In spite of this restriction, using the images is still much less expensive than any other alternative, and we now have access to all of the parishes in one place.
