I am looking for a complete listing of the townspeople who emigrated as a group from Glarus to Wisconsin in America about 1844. One of the members of the group, Mr Durst, kept a diary/journal of the trip. The journal was published many years later and can be obtained through a inter-library loan. In the back is a name list of most of the group, but several (two dozen or more) are not listed by name. Would anyone have access to the complete list of the original group and would (s)he be willing to check the list to see if my gggrandparents were with the group? The names were Baltasar Jenny, his wife Susanna Blumer Jenny, and their daughter, Susanna, an infant. They settled in Allegheny City, PA which is part of present day Pittsburgh. There is another Baltasar Jenny listed in the book but that one left his wife in Wheeling, returned to Glarus and remarried. He is not my Baltasar. Since I know that my great great grandparents came at about the same time as the Glarus group, I have often wondered if they were part of the original group. Any help in determining if they were part of that group would be appreciated. I encourage anyone having ancestors who came with this group to borrow the book and learn about their trip. It is really interesting and you will appreciate the hardships your ancestors had to endure. It begins with the speech made by the mayor of Glarus, Switzerland to send off the travelers, the journey up the Rhine, the trek across the Ocean, the landing during a Presidential Funeral parade in Baltimore, and the trip westward by train, canal, boat and shoeleather express! I will try to check my files for the complete name of the book so that you can borrow the book, also.
Thank you if you can help me with those 3 names.
