I am wondering were the ruins of the German Cemetery (Friedhof) are in Alt Rudnitz? I am told they are in the forest less then 1km from the town, but were badly damaged by the red army. The lady in the church parsonage did not seem to understand what I was talking about when I met her in 2000.
Also, how many churches total were in Alt Rudnitz? There is the Lutheran one still standing, the Catholic one which was destroyed, looked like there was ruins of at least two others when I visited there.
I am researching the surnames Gensmer (Genzmer, Gentzmer), Metzke, Kastner, Dewitz, Stantz, Dorn (Dahrnendt, Dahrens) from this area.
I am also interested in the history of this town prior to world war 2.
