I wouldn't quite agree with that assessment - Saratoga, Havannah, Savannah and An(n)apolis (Canada!!) (townships of Saratoga) were all the scene of battles in either the seven years war or the War of Independence. Pennsylvania wasn't exactly a conflict free zone in that period either. Thanks to the British, German soldiers were well traveled but also the South Hampshire Regiment was formed from the second battalion 20th which surrendered at Saratoga and the 9th fought at both Saratoga and Havana(h).
