Does any one have any more information on the information below. I got the birth certificate of Augustin Josef Albert Wanek from the Baden Bei Vienna and rest of the information I have found out from this site and letters i hold but now at a dead end to what happen during the life Augustin Wanek of the USA and the remainder of his family in Austria. If any ones know I would be very interested - thank you.


My grandfather was:
Augustin Josef Albert Wanek.
Born on 28/8/1885 in Baden Bei, Vienna.


His brother was:
Hugo Wanek
Living at 15 Schlosselgasse, Vienna in 1936.
He was a director of an Austrian savings bank from letters that I have.

It may be possible there were other brothers and sisters too.
Their father (my great-grandfather) was:
Josef Wanek.
Unsure of date and place of birth, but understand in Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. Profession listed as a Doctor of Law at the Royal Courts of Justice in Vienna.
He was married to an Adele Kiel – mother of Augustin Josef Albert Wanek.


There where two Great Aunts from which my father had correspondences:
Marie Kessner.
Address in 1914 - Kutschkergasse 23 II Stock Furu 9 Wien
Fanny Kessner.
Address in 1936 - 63 or 64 Martinsstrasse XVIII Wien

My grandfather (Augustin Josef Albert Wanek) married an English Women in 1909 and had two sons – the eldest was Alexander Thomas Eric Wanek - my father.


On June 7th 1913 Augustin Josef Albert Wanek (my grandfather) took a position in New York as a Broker leaving his two young sons and wife in England, the last correspondence and support from him was in August 1914. Later he became an American citizen, died in Washington DC in January 1954.
